You do not have to search far to find a useful everyday ride car that was once a concept car; sometimes, these cars are made to showcase the brand’s new technology, while others display the idea of its future design.

Automakers take customer’s needs into consideration, when building the production version of the car. The idea to offer more environmental-friendly vehicles has been a theme throughout their designs.

The design and technology are evident in the exterior colors and interior layout of the concept cars. 2011 has been tantalizing with new concept cars, beginning with vehicles like Jaguar CX75.

1. BMW 328 Hommage

Don’t get confused with the modern BMW 3-Series; Hommage is the original 328, which was a tiny convertible of early 1940 with big racing success at many events, including Mille Miglia.

This concept car is a tribute for the innovative and original’s 75th anniversary and BMW has no immediate plans for production.

2. Chevy Mi-ray



Chevy’s Mi-ray concept car, when shown at the Seou Motor Show surprised many with its sharp styling and aggressive look. Like Volt, it is equipped with a turbo gas engine and electric motors, but its styling is completely different from Volt. It gets functional windows, targa or convertible top.

3. Porsche 918 RSR



We already know that there are only very limited number of lucky people owning Porsche’s 918 Spyder, and with the 918 RSR, we would bet many of them would trade up to green as the new car gets 3.4-L twin-turbo V8 and electric motors, good for delivering 767hp.

4. Rinspeed BamBoo



Switzerland has no urban car maker, but the Zurich-tuning specialist, Rinspeed produced a concept car with hybrid power-train. The electric BamBoo is said to be production-feasible and is still under development.

5. Infiniti Etherea



Can you imagine a car having all: luxury, style, performance, and style; Infiniti says their new Etherea can do more than it!

The gasoline and electric hybrid powered Etherea can achieve both good performance and economy figures.

6. Volkswagen Bulli



Bulli is the nickname of old Transporter and is also called as Microbus. It would be front-wheel drive and equips electric power. Two bench seats inside can accommodate six passengers in its airy cabin.

7. Alfa Romeo 4C



With Alfa Romeo, there has never been a better time for concept cars like 4C; moreover, it’ll be realistically priced, but more or equal to six-figures. With its stunning looks and chance to own an Alfa, which is less than purchasing your house, our fingers are crossed.

8. Rolls-Royce 102EX



If you know how good V12 engine in Phantom performs, you can imagine how the Phantom-based 102EX works, being an electric vehicle. It achieves 125 miles range on full charge and it’s more than sufficient for several trips from your estate and clubhouse, at least.

9. Mitsubishi Lancer Evo XI



Mitsubishi is getting a newer version of Evolution; we may get to see the production version of Evo XI in 2013. Like their MiEV, the brand is going green with new XI and the combination of gasoline and electric motor will run the vehicle.

10. BMW Vision ConnectedDrive



Few vehicles that you’ll drive feel as put together as a BMW, especially M3, striking the sweet spot of control and comfort. If you feel that competitors try to replicate their looks, you should check out what they do to copy the behind the wheel part.
