Stefan Jacoby, the CEO of Volvo has said that the company is seeking a partner for small car development in future.

However, he went on to say that they haven’t decided anything regarding who is going to be the potential partner.

Speaking about its past, the company was acquired from Ford Motors in 2010 by Geely, a Chinese automaker. Previous year, it developed just around 450,000 cars.

It’s ambiguous if the automaker is looking for a potential partner in Asia or Europe.

The Power Packed Porsche 550

VW recently announced three production models of its Bluesport concept. Each one of them is to come under different badges of Audi, Volkswagen, and Porsche. It goes without saying that the one with Porsche badge is going to be the real power deal. The vehicle has been named as Porsche 550, which was until now called as baby Boxster.

Engine and Performance

Initially, the vehicle was speculated to be built on the company’s latest sports vehicle architecture and it was expected to be powered by a turbocharged 1.6liter engine, mated to a dual-clutch seven speed gearbox. The mid-mounted power plant would have generated 200hp, but now we have news of a more powerful 550.

It is going to be quite interesting to see whether the decision will turn out in Daimler’s favour or not.

The A-Class vehicles have not quite made it really big, but the segment is on a constant rise with other big brands like Audi launching A3 and BMW launching 1 Series. The new Merc vehicle will try to take a piece of this market after its upcoming launch in Geneva Motor Show.
