MKX first appeared as a concept car at the 2004 NAI Motor Show and was much different from Aviator.
This crossover arrived in 2006 and was much related to Ford Edge; however, its interior was very much different from Edge in terms of design layout and materials.

2011 Facelift
The new refreshed MKX features new front and rear fascia, Ford Sync system, My-Lincoln touch, and new interior. The new 2012 model looks virtually unchanged from the current model and it shares less in common with Edge.
Duratec V6 Engine
It is equipped with a 3.7-L Duratec V6 engine that delivers 305hp and torsion of about 280 lb-ft, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The dual independent variable camshaft timing increases both power and torque ratings without altering the mileage when compared to the current 2011 edition.
There is 15 and 12 percent improvement in power and torque ratings. It comes with the choice of all-wheel and front-wheel drive guise.

The gas mileage ratings are 17 in city, 23 mpg on highways (19 mpg combined) for all-wheel drive, while the new V6 engine is capable of achieving 19/26/21mpg with FWD. The maximum towing capacity of the model is 3,500 pounds.
Beautiful Interior
The new elegant interior sports the brand’s first Touch system that allows users to customize the information and features shown on the dash board’s center screen.

It is not only slick, but also makes a lot of sense as most of the owners aren’t comfortable having too much information on the dash. It just shows the relevant information and there are few buttons over the controls and settings, to make the displayed data look beautiful on the dashboard.

In terms of practicality, both rows of seats have plenty of space for accommodating people comfortably. The maximum cargo capacity is 69 cu-ft; however, other crossovers like Lexus RX 350 and Acura MDX hold more space.
Other features that come standard with Touch system are 4.2 or 8-in color LCD touch screen, stability control, safety belts featuring pretensioners, 10-speaker sound surround system with a satellite radio, and auxiliary audio jack.
The Bottom Line
Its uncompromised craftsmanship, customer focused technology, and excellent gas mileages make the new Lincoln MKX 2012 a standout among other midsize vehicles.

On the whole, it delivers the brand’s assurance of world class performance, user-friendly technology, and features wrapped in a distinctive design.
