Green cars are the in thing if we talk about new vehicles in the market.
However, this year’s L.A. Auto Show was all about squealing tires and growling engines.
In nutshell, the auto show was a dream show for those red-blooded natives of North America.
More than 50 vehicles made their debut at the grand auto show. Half of the Convention Center was full of luxury and performance inclined vehicles.
The auto show featured more than 1,000 new vehicles including the much talked about 2013 Chevy Camaro ZL1, which is now being considered as the fastest production convertible in the world.
The convertible boasts of a supercharged V8 power plant that churns out power in excess of 580hp.

Biggest Attractions at the LA Auto Show
November 22nd, 2011 Jack Nov 18, 2011 saw some world debuts of some of the most breathtaking vehicles that we are about to see on road in coming days. The event was LA Auto Show, which is one of the biggest auto exhibition shows in the world. Let us take a look at some of the new debutants that grabbed the maximum limelight at the much talked about auto show.
Chevrolet Spark
GM has finally stepped into the tiny car market in US with its Chevrolet Spark. With this compact city driver, Chevy will target the young city dwellers. Smaller than Chevy’s Sonic, the vehicle still manages comfortable seating for four passengers.
The vehicle has a 1.2liter 4 cylinder engine mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. The engine generates 85hp. As per Chevy, a 4 speed automatic gearbox is in the pipeline. The vehicle is expected to go on sale by mid 2012 in US, and it’s already quite a popular choice in the small cars segment in India and other Asian countries.
Honda Fit-Electric
The electric version of Honda Fit was already shown in the last year’s LA auto show. The vehicle is said to be capable of running 100 miles at one go with full charge. The pricing is yet to get announced and the vehicle would hit US roads sometime in 2012.
Subaru BRZ
Subaru BRZ marks the entrance of the Japanese car maker in sports car segment. The auto maker is already famous for manufacturing the rugged all wheel drive performance vehicles and small size SUVs. The new BRZ is something different and sporty with rear wheel drive.
This was actually a concept model but looks strikingly similar to the BRZ model set to hit the sales charts in 2012. Under the hood is a 2.0liter engine with direct injection technology. The rear wing and aerodynamic front spoiler make the sports car look distinct from others.
New Cadillac XTS
GM’s luxury brand Cadillac, took the cover off from the official replacement of its older STS and DTS. The vehicle is names as Cadillac XTS. The company says that this one is for the new generation buyers, who want, luxury, space, elegance and power in the same vehicle. The vehicle is powered by a 3.6liter V6 engine that churns out 300hp.
2012 Fiat 500 Abarth
The new Fiat 500 Abarth is nothing but the performance version of the small and cute 500 mini car. The small vehicle seats 4 passengers at a time and has a more aggressive look than the previous version.
Under the hood of the vehicle is a turbocharged 1.4liter engine that generates 160hp, which is 50hp more than the older version. To make the vehicle look sportier, Fiat has added aluminium racing wheels, a spoiler, a racing stripe at the bottom of the door and a heavy-duty five-speed manual gearbox.
Hyundai Azera 2012
The newer version of large midsize sedan Hyundai Azera debuted with a sleeker outlook and few more side creases. The vehicle is powered by a 3.3liter V6 engine with direct injection technology for higher gas economy.
The Korean car maker claims that the combined gas economy of the vehicle will be 23mpg, one of the best in the segment.
