Back in 1961, the first Alfa Romeo Spider was showcased in Turin Motor Show. The model actually went for commercial production in late 1965.
It was based on Giulia 105 series chassis, and was finally launched in the 36th Geneva Motor Show in March 1966. It had a 1570 cc engine, which could generate a humble 109hp, mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox, and also featured independent front suspensions and disc brakes.
A new edition called Spider 1300 Junior was launched in 1968 with a 1290 cc engine, which could generate a meager 89hp. Dustin Hoffman drove the car in the movie “The Graduate”, which was released in 1967.
