Mechanical Details
Coming to the mechanical details, 2006 CTS was available with three different engine versions- 2.8-liter V6, 3.6-liter V6, and 6.0-liter V8. The 2.8-liter V6 was a base engine that was connected to a 24-valve DOHC motor for the development of 194 pounds-ft of torque and 210 hp of power. The vehicle also had a 3.6-liter V6 engine for the production of 255 hp of power and 252 pounds-ft of torque. In addition to this, the vehicle had a 6.0-liter V8 engine that developed 395 pounds-ft of torque and 400 hp of power.
Fuel Economy
Coming to fuel economy, the 2.8-liter V6 model delivered 27 mpg on highways, and 18 mpg in city with automatic 5-speed, whereas the manual six-speed yielded 27 mpg on highway and 17 mpg in city. With the 3.8-liter V6 engine, the vehicle could achieve 18 mpg in city and 27 mpg on highway with automation gearbox, whereas the manual transmission models achieved 17 mpg in city and 26 mpg on highway.
