Coming to engine details, Explorer is available with two different engine variants. Among these two, the smaller one is the 4.0 liter V6 engine, connected to a single overhead camshaft and 12 valves. The engine has a bore of about 3.95 inches, stroke of about 3.32 inches, and compression ratio of about 9.7:1. With this engine, the vehicle delivers 254 lbs-ft of torque at 3,700 rpm and 210 hp of power at 5,100 rpm.

The other available engine is a 4.6 liter V8, which has a single overhead camshaft and 24 valves. This engine has 3.55 inches bore and 3.54 inches stroke. In addition to this, the compression ration of this engine is 9.8:1. With this engine, 315 lbs-ft of torque and 292 hp of power are generated.
